Astrology
Astrology, especially Indian Astrology is the science which furnishes the information about the past, present and future, material and physiological happenings of a human being. Astrology is the study of GRAHAS (Planets) and its positions during the time of birth of an individual. It includes the study of influence of the planets on his/her life, thereby providing a path for the prediction of physical and material happening of that particular individual. Astrology is predictive as well as an informative science.
Astrology is a part of Vedanga and there are altogether six subjects in the order (1) Shiksha (Teaching) (2) Vyakaranam (Grammar) (3) Niruktham (Giving the meaning of each and every words) (4) Chanda Shasthram (Related to Vritham and Alankaram) (5) Kalpam (Related to Aacharam and Anushtanam) (6) Jyotisham (Study of GRAHAS/PLANETS and its positions) The word "JYOTI" is derived from the word light which leads to "nayanam" that is eyes. Hence Jyotisham is also known to be the eye of Vedanta. Jyotisham consists of three parts. (1) Ganitham (2) Hora (3) Samhitha The word horoscope comes from the "Hora Shastra" which is used mainly for the predictions coming from "Intuition". Thus it makes this subject a spiritual one. Ganitham is the most important part of astrology and is the backbone for preparing a horoscope. Now a days, this [art has been made comfortable by the introduction of softwares that makes it easy to create a horoscope in no time. Eventhough, the software prepares the horoscope in full, the astrologer refers only the "Thalakkuri", that is - Horoscope at a glance. Predictions should come from Intuitions. In India, there is a network of many Astrological Organisations, fostered by the Men of Light and Leading. Prof. B. Suryanarayana rao of Mysore, was one of the most eminent exponents of mordern astrology. The "Kodungallur Thampurans" occupy the foremost position among the promoters of astrology in Kerala. Dr. B.V. Raman and his astrological magazines has helped considerably in building of astrological edifices in India. Today, astrology is playing its part in the field of Education, Marriage matchmaking, Health and Medicines and many to name. "Faith and Belief" are the facts that keep astrology alive and busy. My aim is not to pursue anybody towards this subject. But only requesting to change the attitude towards this subject. Astrology is not based on SUPERSTITIONS. It is a science that helps to lead a better living. |
